This session starts from the beginning and provides you with a foundation to understanding both benefit programs.

It explains:

      1) what Social Security means by disability;

      2) the two benefit programs Social Security administers to individuals with disabilities and the difference between these benefit programs;

      3) how Social Security determines which benefit a person receives and why some people receive more than one benefit;

      4) why some people change benefit programs; and

      5) when Social Security reviews a person's continuing entitlement/ eligibility for the benefit.

Session #102        How Wage Affects title II benefits (Social Security, SSDI, CDB) and Medicare.

                             At the registration page:  May 19, 2015 (select #802),   June 9, 2015 (select # 822),   June 16, 2015 (select#842)

Title II is based on a worker’s contributions to Social Security. This session focuses on who can receive title II

benefits (including family members) and why they receive the benefit.  It answers the question "How much can

I earn and what will happen to my cash benefit and Medicare?"

It explains the title II process:

      1) beginning with the Trial Work Period;

      2) continuing through the Extended Period of Eligibility and the Reentitlement Period;

      3) when Cessation of Disability occurs;

      4) the benefit termination month; and

      5) the Expedited Re‑instatement period.

You must understand this process if a title II beneficiary is planning to work or is working.

Session #103        How Income Affects SSI and Medicaid.

                             At the registration page:  May 20, 2015 (select #803),   June 10, 2015 (select # 823),   June 17, 2015 (select#843)

SSI is based on financial need.  This session describes who can qualify for SSI, what is takes to initially qualify and then continue to remain

eligible for the benefit. This session answers the question "How much can I earn and keep my Medicaid?"

It explains:

      1) how Social Security determines the SSI cash benefit;

      2) the Section 1619(a) Special Payment provision;

      3) the Break Even Point;

      4) qualifications for Section 1619(b) status to protect Medicaid eligibility when the SSI cash benefit stops;

      5) the threshold level of income to maintain eligibility for SSI; and

      6) the Expedited Re‑instatement period.

You must understand this process if a SSI recipient is planning to work or is working.

Session #104        The Work Incentives Available in the title II Program.

                             At the registration page:  May 21, 2015 (select #804),   June 11, 2015 (select # 824),   June 18, 2015 (select#844)

Session #104 describes the two work incentives available to Title II beneficiaries to reduce the amount of wage Social

Security counts.   The session explains WHEN to use Impairment-related Work Expenses and WHEN to claim Subsidy /

Special Work Conditions.  Further, the session explains HOW to claim these work incentives to prevent Social Security

 from finding the beneficiary is in benefit overpayment.

Most Title II beneficiaries do not need to limit their wage to maintain their cash benefit and Medicare, if these work

incentives are properly used.  This session could wipe out overpayments!  (it has before)

Session #105     The Work Incentives Available in the SSI Program.

                             At the registration page:  May 22, 2015 (select #805),   June 12, 2015 (select # 825),   June 19, 2015 (select#845)

.

Session 105 describes the four work incentives available to SSI recipients to reduce the amount of income Social

Security counts.  The session explains WHEN to use: 1) the Student Earned Income Exclusion; 2) Impairment-related

Work Expenses; 3) the Plan for Achieving Self-Support (PASS); and 4) Blind Work Expenses.  Further, the session

explains HOW to claim these work incentives to prevent Social Security from finding the beneficiary is in overpayment

and to increase the amount of future SSI payments.

If these work incentives are properly used, most SSI recipients will not need to limit their wage to maintain an adjusted SSI

monthly payment and Medicaid,
